Gina’s Story

Gina Machorro, a native of Mexico City, has lived in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico since 1993, having worked previously in tourism in Puerta Vallarta, Cancun and throughout Oaxaca.  Gina knows everyone and everything in Puerto Escondido, cares deeply that visitors get to know the “real” Puerto – it’s people, food, culture, nature, history, archeological past, and corazon.

Before moving to Puerto she worked with a turtle sanctuary in Michoacan, preserving turtle eggs.  She continues this work in Oaxaca caring for the turtles in their unique environment in Ecsobilla Beach, 40 minutes from Puerto Escondido – where she also provides tours of the turtles laying their eggs.

Gina moved to Puerto because she loves its ocean, rivers, lagoons, mountains, hot springs, people, wonderful food, and for the quality of life.  She has a passion for the Oaxacan coast and loves to share it with everyone she meets.
